Playoffs

  • The top 4–12 teams advance, depending on how many teams are in the league.
  • Playoffs are single elimination.

Tiebreakers

  1. Head-to-head record
  2. Total points scored (season)
  3. Point differential
  4. Coin toss

Substitutes

  • Teams may use substitutes during the regular season.
  • Subs must be registered Frederick Social Sports players.
  • No substitutes in the playoffs.

Forfeits

  • A team that does not have at least one rostered player ready 10 minutes after the scheduled start forfeits the match.
  • The team that does not forfeit is awarded a win (50 points).

Field of Play

  • Boards are placed 27 feet apart, measured edge to edge.
  • Players stay inside a 4' × 3' pitcher's box beside their board while tossing.
  • The front edge of the board is the foul line. Crossing it during a throw is a foul.

Regulation of Game

Frame Game

  • A game lasts 30 complete frames. One frame is 8 bags thrown.
  • The team with the most total points after 30 frames wins.
  • Scoring is cancellation scoring, as in a game to 21: in each frame, only the difference between the two teams' points counts.

Scoring

BagPointsRule
Cornhole3Goes completely through the hole by any means, tossed directly or pushed in by another bag.
Woody / Boarder1Lands and stays on the board with at least two corners touching the surface. Fewer than two corners on the board does not count.
Dirty bag0Touches the ground before landing on the board, or hangs off the board while touching the ground. Remove it before the next toss.
Stanker / Foul bag0Any toss that is not a Cornhole or Woody, including bags knocked into foul territory.

Even bags: if both teams score the same number of points in a frame, the points cancel and no one scores.

Equipment

Frederick Social Sports provides:

  • Cornhole boards
  • Tossing bags
  • Scorecards

Teams keep their own score and turn in a signed score sheet to the designated FSS cornhole official after each game.

Behavior & Conduct

  • Lighthearted trash talk is fine. Fighting, aggressive behavior or excessive profanity will not be tolerated.
  • Officials have full authority to eject any player for unsportsmanlike conduct.
  • An ejected player must leave the premises immediately, and the incident will be reported to league coordinators for possible further action.

Rule Adjustments

Frederick Social Sports reserves the right to change rules, scheduling or policies at any time to keep play fair, fun and safe for everyone.
